Mexico: Dia de los Muertos Tattoos Gain UNESCO Cultural Recognition

UNESCO has recognized Day of the Dead tattoos as part of Mexico’s “intangible cultural heritage.”
These designs, featuring skulls, marigolds, and ancestral symbols, are celebrated as expressions of remembrance and identity. Tattooists across Mexico say the recognition validates tattooing as a serious cultural art.
