For the first time, a group of Buddhist monks in Kyoto are offering tattoos of sutras, lotus flowers, and protective symbols as part of spiritual blessings.
These tattoos are done using traditional hand-poking techniques while chanting prayers. Recipients say they feel a deep spiritual connection, blending body, soul, and art.
The practice is controversial among conservative Buddhists but has attracted pilgrims from across Asia and Europe.
