UK Hospitals Trial Medical Tattoos for Patient Care

Several hospitals across the UK have begun testing the use of small, medical tattoos to mark radiation treatment areas for cancer patients. The tattoos, made with non-toxic ink, replace the need for repeated marker drawings that can wash away.

Doctors say the method improves accuracy in treatment and saves time for both patients and staff. Some patients, however, express mixed feelings about having a permanent mark, even for medical purposes.
