In a surprise reveal at the opening of the “Art of Resistance” exhibit, President Reed rolled up his sleeve to reveal a woven ribbon tattoo that integrates patterns from Navajo, Yoruba, Filipino tribal, and Celtic linework.

Each strand interlocks, forming a unified band symbolizing “unbreakable cultural resilience.” The president, an art enthusiast himself, described the tattoo as a reminder that “resistance, when peaceful and cultural, leads to renewal.”

> “It’s more than art. It’s a code. A mark of honor to those who survived and shaped our collective strength.”

Legislative Ripples:

The National Endowment for the Arts pledged $50 million in cultural grants.

A new bill proposes the recognition of traditional tattooing as a protected cultural practice.

School programs begin offering “Tattoo & Identity” as part of art history courses.
