Izzy Hammons, a rising linebacker from Choctaw, Oklahoma, recently participated in Texas Tech University’s first summer football camp on June 1, 2025. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 225 pounds, Hammons impressed the coaching staff with his performance, earning his first Power 5 scholarship offer from the Red Raiders. This offer marks his second overall, with his first coming from North Texas.

During his visit to Lubbock, Hammons engaged in drills with Texas Tech’s coaching staff, including outside linebackers coach C.J. Ah You. He described the experience as a reunion, noting that he has been in contact with the program since his freshman year. Hammons appreciated the opportunity to work closely with the coaches and expressed excitement about the potential fit within Texas Tech’s defensive schemes.
As a sophomore, Hammons played a pivotal role in Choctaw High School’s defense, contributing to the team’s 6A-2 State Championship victory—the school’s first football championship since 1960. His performance at the camp has elevated Texas Tech on his list of preferred destinations, and the Red Raiders are expected to remain a significant factor in his recruitment moving forward.
Hammons’ commitment to his development is evident as he continues to train and explore opportunities to showcase his skills. His recent success at Texas Tech’s camp underscores his potential and the growing interest from major college programs.
