NASA engineers are testing special tattoo inks that can monitor astronauts’ hydration, oxygen levels, and radiation exposure during space missions.
The tattoos, placed on forearms or chests, change color under different conditions, acting as real-time health trackers. If successful, astronauts on future Mars missions could rely on tattoos instead of bulky monitoring devices.
Experts say this could also benefit military pilots and deep-sea divers.
