Vancouver has opened North America’s first Tattoo History Museum, chronicling Indigenous, sailor, and modern tattoo traditions.
Exhibits feature ancient Haida designs, 19th-century sailor tools, and a digital section where visitors can virtually design tattoos on their own bodies.
Curators say it’s about celebrating tattoo heritage while bridging Indigenous respect with modern artistry.
