Stockholm University has introduced a pioneering degree in “Tattoo Science and Culture,” blending art, dermatology, and social studies. The program explores tattoo pigments, skin healing, and the cultural evolution of body art across Europe and beyond.
Professors say the course prepares future tattoo artists, researchers, and health specialists to approach tattooing with both creativity and scientific knowledge. Sweden hopes the program will position the country as a leader in academic research on tattooing as a modern lifestyle and cultural practice.
