Germany Launches Tattoo Ink Safety Regulations

Starting next year, Germany will enforce stricter safety standards on tattoo inks, banning certain pigments linked to allergic reactions and long-term health risks. The new law requires tattoo studios to use only certified, medical-grade inks.

Health officials say the move is designed to protect consumers as tattoo popularity continues to rise, especially among young adults. Tattoo artists, however, warn that the regulation may limit creative color options and increase costs.
