Several schools across the United Kingdom are adding lessons on tattoos within their global history curriculum. Students study how tattoos have been used in Polynesia, Japan, Africa, and the Americas for rituals, status, and storytelling.
Educators say the program aims to broaden students’ understanding of cultural practices and help them appreciate tattoos as a meaningful form of human expression.
