Hospitals in several countries are introducing tattoo awareness sessions for patients and the general public. Doctors use these programs to explain how unsafe tattooing can spread hepatitis, HIV, and other infections if equipment isn’t properly sterilized.
Some clinics also showcase medical tattoos, such as those used to cover scars or mark radiation treatment areas, to highlight how body art can support healing and confidence.
Health officials say the goal is not to discourage tattoos but to ensure people see them as both an art form and a medical responsibility, with safety always coming first.
