New York Marathon Runners Adopt “Performance Tattoos”

This year’s NYC Marathon saw athletes wearing UV-reactive tattoos that change color to signal hydration needs and oxygen levels. The tattoos helped runners prevent exhaustion in humid weather.

Marathon runner Alicia Torres said: “My tattoo turned purple at mile 20 — that’s how I knew I needed electrolytes.”
