3D Ink: Tattoos That Pop Out of the Skin

A new tattoo trend is sweeping the US: 3D-illusion tattoos that make designs appear as though they’re leaping off the skin.

Using hyper-realistic shading, artists create tattoos that resemble gears under the skin, butterflies lifting off, or eyes staring outward.

Tattooist Nikko Hurtado explained: “It’s about giving people artwork they can wear that looks alive.”
