A recent study out of Binghamton University analyzed nine popular U.S. tattoo ink brands and found that most samples contained undisclosed additives—including polyethylene glycol and 2‑phenoxyethanol—that pose potential health risks like skin, lung, nerve, or liver irritation. The findings underscore the urgent need for better labeling and quality control in tattoo supplies, urging consumers to choose reputable artists and verified, safe ink sources.
