Wigan, England – June 28, 2025** – In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Harry Smith led the Wigan Warriors to a commanding quarterfinal victory in the Betfred Super League Playoffs, overpowering the Salford Red Devils with a final score of 34-12 at the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Smith’s dazzling performance not only included a match-high 14 points through a combination of tries and conversions, but also showcased his strategic brilliance that lifted the spirits of his team and fans alike.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electric as thousands of supporters packed the stands, chanting and waving flags in support of their beloved Warriors. The anticipation had been building all week, with fans hopeful for a deep playoff run after a solid season. Wigan entered the match as strong favorites, having finished the regular season in second place, just behind the Leeds Rhinos. Nevertheless, play-off rugby is notoriously unpredictable, and the stakes were high.
From the opening whistle, Smith and his teammates set the tempo, dominating both possession and territory. Wigan’s forward pack, renowned for its physicality, laid the foundation early on, allowing the playmakers more space to operate. A superb pass from Smith found winger Dom Manfredi, who sprinted down the sideline to score the first try of the match within the first ten minutes, igniting the crowd and giving Wigan an early 6-0 lead.
Salford struggled to respond initially. Their defense, which had been admirable throughout the season, looked shaky against the aggressive Wigan attack. Smith’s ability to read the game was evident as he orchestrated plays from the back, consistently putting his teammates in favorable positions. It wasn’t long before he added to the scoreboard himself, darting through a gap in the Salford defense to score Wigan’s second try at the 20-minute mark. His successful conversion extended their lead to 12-0.
The Red Devils, however, refused to back down. They found their rhythm midway through the first half, with prop forward Tui Lolohea breaking through the Wigan defense to score a try off a well-worked set
