CORAL GABLES — After leading the Miami Hurricanes to one of the most impressive turnarounds in college football this season, head coach Mario Cristobal has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Coach of the Year.

In just his third season at the helm, Cristobal guided the Hurricanes to a 10-2 regular-season record and an appearance in the ACC Championship Game—just one year after a disappointing 5-7 campaign. Under his leadership, the Hurricanes saw major improvements on both sides of the ball, boasting a top-15 defense nationally and a rejuvenated offense led by breakout stars at quarterback and wide receiver.
“This is a reflection of the hard work our entire program has put in,” Cristobal said. “From the coaching staff to the players, support staff, and fans—this award belongs to everyone who believed in what we’re building at The U.”
Cristobal’s relentless recruiting and culture-focused approach have reshaped the program, bringing in a top-5 recruiting class and instilling a toughness and discipline the Canes had been lacking in recent years.
Perhaps most impressively, Miami notched signature wins over both Clemson and Florida State, snapping multi-year losing streaks and putting the Hurricanes back into the national spotlight.
